Reducing the amount of data a company stores in backup media and therefore reducing timescales for backup and more importantly, recovery, can be achieved automatically by integrating TPC with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager. TPC initiated archives move obsolete data from disk to tape, saving costs, while TPC can report on and automatically backup files not protected by IBM Tivoli Storage Manager.
