Course Description
This course will introduce students to the basic functions of IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager. The course will also teach the student about the capabilities of Configuration Manager, and will provide an overview of its major components. Students will use the product to collect inventory data and distribute software in the classroom.

Objectives

 After completing this course, students will be able to accomplish the following:

• Describe common real-world IT problems that Configuration Manager solves
• Describe each component of Configuration Manager, and the function(s) that it provides
• At a high level, outline the basic architecture of Configuration Manager
• Scan for Inventory hardware and software
• Use the supplied queries to view Inventory and Software Distribution information
• Install/remove pre-built software packages to/from target systems
• Create a simple software package
• Use activity plans and reference models to deploy configuration changes
• Employ the Data Moving Services

Required Skills Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of the Windows operating system, basic Windows administration functions, and Windows program installation
