Course Description
IBM Tivoli Monitoring is an intelligent tool that provides IT administrators the capability to closely monitor the status and performance of mission-critical distributed applications and computing resources. This course provides the knowledge and skills needed to install, configure, operate, customize and troubleshoot IBM Tivoli Monitoring 5.

Objectives

Operate, maintain and implement IBM Tivoli Monitoring, specifically, to:

  • Describe the components of IBM Tivoli Monitoring
  • Configure, display and interpret Tivoli Resource Models
  • Employ the IBM Tivoli Monitoring Reporting via the IBM Tivoli Enterprise Data Warehouse
  • Use Web Console to display monitored endpoints health
  • Use Workbench to create and package a resource model
  • Describe the use of Resource Models within the Active Directory PAC
  • Troubleshoot IBM Tivoli Monitoring
  • Utilize the Compatibility Mode to use DM Classic Edition monitoring sources inside a resource model
  • Install IBM Tivoli Monitoring via both Rapid deployment & via the Tivoli Desktop

Who will benefit from this course
This course is intended for System Administrators who will set up, configure, and/or use IBM Tivoli Monitoring.

Required Skills Knowledge
  • Before attending this course, you should attend the Tivoli Management Framework course or possess equivalent knowledge or skill, as defined in the description for that course.
  • Windows NT/2000 Administrator and Unix Administrator
  • Experience with the Tivoli desktop
  • Ability to populate an administrator’s desktop Working knowledge of policy regions
  • Ability to create and use profiles and profile managers
  • Ability to distribute profiles to subscribers
  • Ability to create and use tasks, task libraries, and jobs
  • Working knowledge of system administration and security issues with UNIX and/or NT
  • Understanding of networks, network management fundamentals, and monitoring
