IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 for Implementers
Course Description
IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 lets users manage their systems graphically, dynamically, and flexibly, with a browser-enabled interface that helps transform ‍systems management data into information they need to keep systems up and running. In this course, students will learn how to implement IBM Tivoli ‍Monitoring 6.1 by directly or remotely installing infrastructure components on distributed systems. It also covers migration or upgrade from previous releases, ‍as well as security, availability, and other infrastructure component management tasks.

  • Plan an ITM 6.1 Implementation
  • Install, configure and maintain IBM Tivoli Monitor 6.1 and its prerequisites
  • Install and configure Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Agents
  • Implement failover support for IBM Tivoli Monitoring
  • Describe how to implement ITM 6.1 user security and infrastructure component communication security
  • Describe a migration or coexistence plan to ITM 6.1 from any of the following environments:
    • CandleNet Portal
    • IBM Tivoli Monitoring 5.1
    • Distributed Monitoring 3.7

Who will benefit from this course
System administrators and services personnel who will deploy ITM 6.1.

Required Skills Knowledge
  • Familiarity of IBM Tivoli Monitoring Architecture
  • Ability to use and navigate the Tivoli Enterprise Portal
  • Working knowledge of how to access situation events, situation event details, and status changes
  • Ability to manage situation events effectively using IBM Tivoli Monitoring
  • Experience with the Tivoli desktop
  • Working knowledge of TEC 3.9 suggested, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of system administration of linux and Windows 2000
