Course Description

IBM Tivoli Monitoring is an efficient, reliable, automated tool that provides IT administrators the capabilities to closely monitor the status and performance of to mission-critical distributed applications and computing resources. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to configure, operate, customize and troubleshoot IBM Tivoli Monitoring.

The Distributed Monitoring Advanced Edition 4.1 course is focused around Resource Modelling. The resource model is an equivalent implementation of monitors from DM Classic Edition albeit in a different way, using the object oriented modelling approach and integration with CIM.

The focus of this course is on how we can migrate from the Distributed Monitoring Classic Edition way of monitoring to the resource modelling way of monitoring, using IBM Tivoli Monitoring 5.1

This course enables you to build the necessary knowledge and skills to:

• Learn how to migrate Tivoli Distributed Monitoring Classic Edition 3.7 monitoring solutions to IBM Tivoli Monitoring 5.1 solutions
• Troubleshoot the Resource Modelling engine

This course is intended for System Administrators who will set up, configure, and/or use IBM Tivoli Monitoring 5.1.

Required Skills Knowledge

Before attending this course, you should attend the Tivoli Management Framework course or possess equivalent knowledge or skill, as defined in the description for that course. You should have a working knowledge of Tivoli Monitoring 4.1, as the focus of course will be how to migrate sentry monitoring to resource modeling.

• Analysis of resource models.Creating and migrating to resource modeling profiles (Tmw2kProfile). Working with the migration helper script (dmae_sentryprofile_analyser.sh) and the mapping process. Compatibility mode
• Unit 4: Profile Configuration
• Configuring profiles on CLI. Mdist 2 profile distribution
• Unit 5: Troubleshooting
