This course on Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager (DRM), a feature of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, can help you to prepare a disaster recovery plan, manage off-site volumes, restore systems using Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager, and perform bare-metal restores with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for System Backup and Recovery.
In this course you will learn and practice skills needed to implement and administer Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager by creating a customised disaster-recovery plan to help you recover a Tivoli Storage Manager server and client. You will use the plan to back up the necessary server files, a database, and a storage pool onto removable media for offsite storage vaulting. Using Tivoli Storage Manager server-to-server communications, the plan will also be used to back up to remote virtual volumes for offsite electronic vaulting.
Bare Machine Recovery (BMR), is possible by using additional software, such as IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for System Backup and Recovery, the Microsoft Windows Automated System Recovery (ASR), and Cristie Bare Machine Recovery.
This course will cover the integration of these software products to create a total Disaster Recovery solution. With the student exercises, you will be given the opportunity to test your customised Disaster Recovery Plan by restoring the server files, database, storage pool, and client. You will also learn and practice the skills needed to manage the offsite disaster recovery media and to define client recovery information.
After taking this course you will have developed skills to set up IBM Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager for automatic generation of a customised disaster recovery plan, off-site and electronic vaulting of disaster recovery media, and inventory of machine information required to recover IBM Tivoli Storage Manager clients.
